Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases eBikes are simply a bike with an electric motor to give the rider a boost in speed and range. Quality bikes can have a real world range of 40 miles or more on one battery charge (or “discharge” if you want to get technical). There are so many speed options and bike configurations out there that classifications were created. Class II eBikes are the most common. Simply put, a Class II eBike must have pedals, they top out at 20 mph, and they can have a throttle on the handlebars. Typically, the motor will come on and “assist” once the rider is pedaling, and on that same bike the rider can choose not to pedal and use only the throttle to let the bike motor do all of the work. Some brands have ways to reduce max speeds on Class II bikes or increase the max pedal assist speed past 20 mph on the same bike, effectively making the same bike a pedal class III.
An eBike can easily last many years, just like a regular bike. The batteries can last 600 to even 900 full discharges or cycles. Given a battery can often go 40 miles on one discharge, a person could expect 24,000 miles (600 discharges x 40 miles) on one battery and many more miles on the actual bike itself. There are real world people who have logged over 14,000 miles on their first battery of an Aventon eBike and are still going strong on the same battery. Taking care of your eBike battery the right way will ensure its long life. Purchasing a quality eBike is imperative to assure the electronic components on the eBike are reliable and widely available if they need service. Purchasing a quality eBike also ensures the company will still exist in five years from now. Our shop can make life SO much easier and it is well worth the investment in your community.
Battery care does matter, and done correctly, can make a very big difference in the battery’s life. Simply remember 1. 2. 3…. lithium ion batteries are much like people!

1) They don’t like to be empty.

2) They don’t like to be cold.

3) They don’t like to be hot. This means: Don’t run the battery down past 10%. Quality batteries have a Battery Management System (BMS) which helps to prevent a battery from draining below 10%, but a low battery left uncharged can ultimately go below 10%,  at which point it is likely to become permanently dead. Simply recharge low batteries to at least 80% before letting them sit. Take care to keep your batteries indoors during very cold and very hot temperatures. Doing these three simple things can easily save you hundreds of dollars!
Yes! We offer financing at eBike Plus.
Absolutely… you can get a reliable and highly rated ebike for $1099 to $1999. However, it is extremely important to buy from reputable companies. We have seen many times folks buy an ebike online within that same price range and receive eBikes that are malfunctioning within the first week, and then there is additional trouble and money getting the problem corrected. Furthermore, buying an eBike for less than $999 often proves risky and disappointing… as in you spent $600 dollars on something that is big and broken. At eBikes Plus you will receive guidance to match your budget and keep you rolling for a long time ultimately saving you from inconvenient expenses! We know you work hard for your money, so our full service shop is here to help you get it right the first time. Hey, at 40 miles of range for pennies off the electric wall outlet, no gas needed, and no insurance required… eBikes have quickly become one of the most affordable things many people will ever love and use.
No, you are good to go! eBikes are considered bicycles and enjoy the same privileges and laws. A white light on the front and a red light on the back of your bicycle and eBike during legal nighttime hours are currently required by law.
Absolutely… we’d love to see you! eBikes are easier to use than folks realize and everyone comes back with a big grin on their face!
